ounce of prevention

In an interesting display of pro-action yesterday, the teacher affixed a large sticker to the front of Sarah’s shirt the minute she walked in the door:

“IF FOUND, PLEASE RETURN TO MRS. COLLINS”

smoldering

I had a dream about you last night. I was living somewhere else, in an apartment though I’m not sure where, and you showed up at my door, distressed, in a crisis, and I can’t remember now what it was you were going through but even now all these hours later I still can’t shake that wrenching in my gut over it. It was awful. You stayed and we talked and we slept, and then in the early morning hours someone knocked at the door and there were flashing lights outside and they were screaming that there was a massive flood and the building was filling up fast. We gathered up as much as we could carry and trudged down the stairs through rising water and out to the street, where there were dishes of dog food floating by.
