. . . . . .

take note

A perfect example of why keeping a pen and notebook in reach to record salable middle-of-the-night editorial ideas is a little overrated. Salable being the key word here.

Found scrawled out, hardly discernible, all over a page of my steno notebook today with barely any recollection of having done so:

“The Geology of Building: From Bedrock to Bedroom”

1. You always build your own houses with recycled materials. And often you remodel and revive old, abandoned ones.

2. You can balance yourself on the tiniest, most precarious twigs and branches.. and sway with the wind on them, like a cool amusement park ride.

3. No traffic, red lights or rising gas prices. No airline surcharges, no security checks and no sweaty people wedged into the seat next to you.

4. Your kids are off and on their own in just a few short months!

5. “Playing” involves soaring, diving, chasing and swirling at several hundred feet above the earth. Often, so does working.

6. Your natural rhythms are connected to the sun and seasons.

7. People all over the world put “houses” with food out for you. It’s kind of like hostel-hopping, everywhere you go.

8. Most people won’t cringe and throw stuff at you when you sing.

9. At least your predators don’t have 800 numbers and attorneys.

10. You can “relieve” yourself on the heads of people you don’t like — without going to jail, or to the emergency room.
