2004 Road Trip Map: 14,000 Miles

I was clearing out some old files on the server and ran across this: our full route map (drawn in small sections as we drove) of the six week road trip we did back in 2004. Doesn’t feel like it was more than four years ago already.
Anyone else remember this?

You can’t see it through the grease-splattered teapot…
…but it’s true, I’m wearing an apron. Happy Thanksgiving!

Sarah watching the rain, watching the world

Today was her last day at her current school; she’s been transferred to another program farther up the road where the district feels her needs will be better met.
The irony: it’s the school I’d originally requested she go to, but was turned down. Now that she’s had a chance to settle in and get a routine and make some friends, they agree she needs to be elsewhere and pushed the transfer through within days of the suggestion.
A respite from her feelings about that: her 14th birthday is Saturday.

Six years of late Novembers
Many of you have been here for a couple of these. Some of you have been here for all of them. I’m glad.
November 2007: working late
November 2006: this seat not taken
November 2005: holiday bound
November 2004: a few moments from yesterday
November 2003: amuse-bouche
November 2002: cough drops and vodka

Stormed!

Verizon offered us an irresistible deal on two new Blackberry Storms, so with the personal fun-funds we each divided up from the sale of my Previa, we made the switch from our two-year-old Treos to shiny, new Blackberries. Total cost for both combined, after deals, rebates, selling Shane’s Treo (the keyboard had gone out on mine or I’d sell that too) and free shipping?
$200
I’ll post some thoughts on it after we’ve had a chance to get to know the new interface. It’s very clickity.
